my backyard

Ok, so i was just going to post once a week, but i cannot leave my camera alone. So, considering i have no audience, i therefore have no rules.

So i wandered out through the block to see if i could work on this depth of field concept. For starters i wanted to look into the centre of a blackboy to capture the lovely light green growth thats so says Its Spring. I then cropped it down to try to get it simpler. Im thinking photography needs to be simple to get the message across.

And then i noticed a heap of bees on the geraldton wax and so i thought id try to focus on the bee. Was quite windy and i was getting a tad flustered so the composure is bollicks and the focus is off, but its my first bee so here it is.

Then there was a heap of bluebells flowering under my cumquat tree so i tried to go for a shallow depth of field, large aperture shot. And well, woulda been heaps better if id focussed on the stalk below the one i did, as its detail is far more intricate. but i didnt. Although i did crop this one right down and i do kinda like the balance of the shot.

And finally a beautiful grevillea in full bloom. I am so busy focussing on well, focussing, i never think about composing the pic. I wish the grevillea was on a bit more of an artistic angle, but that never occurred to me at the time, but i do love the detail of this pic. i used a larger aperture which gave the gorgeous detail of the, ummm, pointy bits, what are they called in a grevillea, i dont know.
