coral bay and my big sis

My sister came over from Adelaide and so we came up to Coral Bay for 4 days. It was so cool. We did a snorkelling trip out to Ningaloo Reef and saw sea turtles, dolphins, humpy whales and a 5-6m white pointer. No bull, i dont have any pics to prove it but it was amazing. We were in the boat and the skipper followed it for ages. Absolutely incredible to see a wild animal like that so close.

For the sake of my camera i didnt take it on the snorkelling trip which was a shame in that the weather was absolutely gorgeous and i could have got so cool shots. But i was worried about salt spray and stuff.

Anyways heres some pics of my sis and her stuff, she will hate them but thats a little bit of stiff shit.

Then it was down the beach as the sun went down to capture some more shots have have a play with lenses. This shot was not converted into black and white, its just how the colours were, kind of eerie.

This fella was really interesting to watch, he was walking up and down looking for something, maybe his keys, im not sure, but he never found them.

Then i came across loads fo these little seed pod things and they hade me intrigued for ages, how they'd roll along in the wind till they found themself a nice protected crevice, i guess that is the aim, somewhere protected to lay their seed.

This kid was kinda cute. He came up to see what i was photographing and then couldnt stop turning around to see what i was doing next. So i felt like he deserved a pic. After i took this he turned around and smiled, i think that was the plan all along, to get my attention.

Clouds, clouds, i like clouds.

Im not sure if i will leave this shot in or delete it. The turtle is dead and although his shell is really cool, its kinda sad having a pic of a dead turtle.

The sunset was just gorgeous. I used my fisheye lens for these shots, in this one i kept the horizon near the centre of the image so the distortion was reserved for the sky and the sand.

The clouds for this shot were arced, but the fisheye gave it even more curvature. I was having a play trying to get a nice balance between distorting the horizon and the curve of the shoreline.

Again, with the fisheye, but keeping the horizon centred.

This was with my tele zoom and at f/9. Was hard to hold the camera steady by hand as the light was quite dull by this stage but even though its still blurry, i kinda like it.

So its now 1:30pm on our last day here and its rainy and overcast. I am nursing some serious sunburn and my sis has been snorkelling. I am really hoping the sun comes out at least for a few hours this arvo so i can go back down and get some shots of the gorgeous turquoise water, as its something pretty special. But if not, i'll just have to come back another time.
